Biography Profile

Vincenzo de Luca was appointed as the Ambassador of Italy to India on 18 December 2019 and Ambassador of Italy to Nepal on 22 October 2021.

Previously, he was Director General for the Promotion of the Country System from 1 February 2016, after having served in the same Directorate General with the position of Deputy General Manager and Central Director for the internationalization of the Country System and territorial autonomies (since January 2014).

He entered the diplomatic service in 1989 and has held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the diplomatic missions of Khartoum, Tunis, Paris (at the Permanent Mission to the O.C.S.E.) and Shanghai. He has worked extensively, in the public and private sectors, on the internationalization of the economic system, both at the central offices, as diplomatic advisor to the Ministries of Industry, Transport and Economic Development, and at large companies such as ENI and ENEL, where he held the functions of Vice President for international institutional relations. In recent years he has played an important role in the organization of EXPO Milano 2015 as President of the Task Force of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also making use of his previous experience of Counsel General in Shanghai.
