The fiscal code

TAX CODE (Codice Fiscale) FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS

The Tax Code (Codice Fiscale) is an alphanumerical code issued by the Italian Revenue Agency.

It is used by the Italian Public Administration to identify citizens living in Italy and it is required for all sorts of procedures (i.e. opening a bank account, applying for the national health service, renting a flat, applying for a fixed telephone line, etc.).

The Tax Code is generated automatically on the UNIVERSITALY Portal during the pre-enrolment application.
Hence no Tax Code will be issued by the Embassy of Italy in New Delhi in the framework of the new pre-enrolment procedure through the UNIVERSITALY Portal.

In all other cases, Tax Codes for the 2020-2021 Academic Year will be issued by the local Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate) upon arrival to Italy.

Please note that the Embassy of Italy in Delhi will issue Tax Codes only in limited cases where the tax code cannot be obtained through the UNIVERSITALY portal or it is strictly needed for administrative procedures to be completed before the departure.

Only in those cases, the tax code can be required to the Embassy of Italy by writing to the following e-mail address: consolare.newdelhi@esteri.it

In case of loss

In case of loss or destruction of the fiscal code card, a duplicate can be requested for, in the same way as for issuance.

PIN code to access FISCONLINE online services
Italian citizens temporarily abroad and those registered in AIRE (Registry of Italians Residing Abroad) can make use of the electronic service for submission of tax returns, called Fisconline (> website of the Revenue Agency)

To be able to use the service, you must send an email to: consolare.ambnewdelhi@esteri.it  attaching a scan of your current identity document (passport or identity card) and requesting for a pin code that will be issued by the Revenue Agency.
The Consulate will validate the request and send the first 4 digits of the PIN code to the applicant, the password for the first access to the reserved area of the online services and instructions for obtaining the second part of the PIN code from the Revenue Agency.
