Accordo di Cooperazione

An agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the Italian Republic and the Republic of India was signed in New Delhi, on 28th November 2003 and entered into force on 3rd November 2009. The General Directorate for Country Promotion (Economy, Culture and Science) – Unit for Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, are regularly launching the procedures for the drafting of the Executive Programme of Scientific and Technological Cooperation on a three year basis.

The Executive Protocols list selected scientific research projects, which can be one of two types:

  • "Researcher Mobility Projects", bilaterally financed projects: in particular, the Unit for Scientific Cooperation covers travel expenses for Italian researchers going abroad and living expenses for foreign researchers working in Italy;
  • "Projects of Major Importance", eligible for annual co-financing in pursuance of Law no. 401/90.

The new Executive Programme between Italy and India for the years 2017-2019 has been signed by HE Lorenzo Angeloni, Ambassador of Italy in New Delhi and Prof. A. Sharma, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, Gov.t of India, last 18th April 2017.
