This was the focus of the visit to India by the Director General for Asia, Africa, the Americas and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Nicoletta Bombardiere.
In New Delhi, she held bilateral political consultations at senior officials’ level with her counterpart at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Secretary West Amb. Sibi George.
Discussions covered the whole spectrum of Italy-India bilateral ties.
Economy and investment; innovation and artificial intelligence; technology; defence and security; science and research; energy; connectivity and IMEC; culture; mobility; and people-to-people ties, among others.
A comprehensive review of the results achieved in bilateral cooperation within the framework of the Joint Strategic Action Plan adopted by Prime Ministers Meloni and Modi in November 2024. And the identification of strategic areas and sectors wherein to further deepening cooperation and developing joint initiatives.
These include possible triangular cooperation in Africa in areas of mutual interest, such as digital public infrastructure and renewable energy.
During the visit, the Director General also held meetings with the Special Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Suchindra Misra, Secretary Economic Relations of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs Sudhakar Dalela, and the Director General of the International Solar Alliance, Ashish Khanna.
India is a priority strategic partner for Italy.
