Child born out of wedlock.

To transcribe the birth certificate of a recognized child born out of wedlock, the parents are required to report personally to the Consular Office to sign the declaration of recognition.
You will be grateful to anticipate to the Consular Chancellery by e-mail (consolare.newdelhi@esteri.it) together with the appointment request, the full copy of the birth certificate, in order to verify the obligations required by the Italian legal system for transcription (explicit recognition by the mother, act of consent by the parent who recognized it first). The Consular Chancellery will then take care to contact the interested parties for the completion of the procedure.

Child born in constancy of Marriage.
The birth certificate must be delivered to the Embassy, together with the application form (available at the following link: Click here and a copy of the parents’ passports, for subsequent transmission to the competent Italian Municipality.

Before sending the originals it is advisable to send a copy of all documentation to the e-mail address consolare.newdelhi@esteri.it for the appropriate verifications.

The birth certificate must be presented in original copy and accompanied by the following certificates:

For documents issued in New Delhi
• Certification of the Sub Divisional Magistrate;
• Apostille issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of India;
• Italian translation by Reference Translator (go to the list of Translators: list of translators

For documents issued in other States belonging to the circumscription of the Embassy

• Certification of the Sub Divisional Magistrate;
• Attestation of the Home Secretary/NRI Office of the State Government;
• Apostille issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of India;
• Italian translation by Reference Translator: Modulistica – Ambasciata d’Italia New Delhi (esteri.it)
