National Day Reception at the Italian Embassy in New Delhi

NEW DELHI- 28 May

Music, dance, Made in Italy and a spectacular performance that transformed the Italian Embassy in India into an enchanted garden. The Italian National Day reception hosted over a thousand participants: the Italian community (to whom Deputy Prime Minister Tajani addressed a video message) and then entrepreneurs, Indian authorities, diplomats and representatives of the cultural world.
The latest Ferrari, Ducati and Piaggio models featured as sculptures in the park. An immersive artwork by artist Franz Cerami created a “locus amoenus”, a magical oasis, making the Garden of thr Embassy the venue of a fascinating dialogue between light and dark, plants and colours, nature and city. A tenor and a soprano, accompanied by the Indian Air Force Band, performed great Italian classics. Also, some Italian famous pop songs were performed by Bollywood dancers. There was also a performance by young representatives from the Italians in India Association.

Guest of honour of the evening was the Indian Minister of External Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, who reiterated the importance of Italy as a strategic partner. “Relations between Italy and India are on a strong growth trajectory, driven by renewed momentum in political dialogue and growing interest  in cooperation in areas of potential mutual benefit. We are working to implement the Joint Action Plan agreed between the two Prime Ministers: trade and investment, energy, science, defence, space, mobility, culture and civil society exchanges,” the Indian diplomatic chief stressed.

“Rome and India were already trading two thousand years ago. And the future Indo-Mediterranean corridor IMEC, for goods and data, is a modern re-enactment of an ancient route. After the Business, Science and Technology Forum and the visit of Deputy Prime Minister Tajani and Minister Bernini in April, next week, on 4 and 5 June, there will be a new business meeting. The ministers will discuss future strategies. Machinery, energy transition, automotive, new technologies will be the focus of the business meetings. India is a market with high potential. We must multiply opportunities and tools for business,” Ambassador Antonio Bartoli noted.
