Hon’ble Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Edoardo Rixi was recently on an institutional mission to India, aimed at reinforcing bilateral cooperation in the strategic sectors of mobility, infrastructure, and sustainable urban development.
During his visit to New Delhi, Hon’ble Deputy Minister Rixi met with Minister of State for Housing & Urban Affairs, Hon’ble Tokhan Sahu, with whom he initiated the process for drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries focused on construction and urban development. The agreement aims at promoting collaboration on building technologies, urban regeneration, sustainable planning, and innovation in smart city development.
The Hon’ble Deputy Minister also met with Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Hon’ble Harsh Malhotra, to discuss the future of infrastructure networks and explore opportunities for cooperation towards more efficient, connected, and environmentally friendly mobility systems.
As part of his mission, Hon’ble Rixi also held talks with Minister of State for Railways, Hob’ble Ravneet Singh, focusing on the development of high-speed rail and the creation of industrial and technological synergies between companies in the two countries.
The mission to India continued in Mumbai, where the Hon’ble Deputy Minister attended the Indian Maritime Week, featuring also the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On the agenda a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Ports, Hon’ble Sarbananda Sonowal, to finalize a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral cooperation in the maritime sector, in view of the upcoming IMEC Corridor, which will connect Europe, the Middle East, and India.
