23 November 2025

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, met today with the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in the margins of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, marking the sixth bilateral meeting in three years.

During the meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed the commitment to strengthen the Italy-India partnership and to continue implementation of the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-2029 in key sectors such as trade, science, technology, energy, defence, space and connectivity.

Particular attention was paid to security cooperation, an area in which the two Heads of Government have launched a bilateral initiative to combat new forms of financing of terrorist networks, which are increasingly turning to digital technologies.

Lastly, President Meloni and Prime Minister Modi discussed the launch of a new innovation project, involving a centre whose goal will be to accelerate start-ups and develop collaborations between companies and research bodies.
