In the event of the death of an Italian citizen in Indian territory, family members are required to send the death certificate and the request for transcription of the same to the Consular Chancellery (link: link to the Form<\/a>). If you have it, also transmit the original passport of the deceased to proceed with its cancellation and subsequent return to the interested parties.
\nThe Consular Chancellery will take care of the sending of the act to the Italian municipality competent for the transcription.<\/p>\n

Procedure for requesting the transcription in Italy of death certificates<\/p>\n

The request for transcription of a death certificate can be submitted to the Consular Chancellery by sending the originals of the aforementioned documentation by ordinary mail or private courier to the following address:

Before sending the originals, it is advisable to send a copy of all documentation to the e-mail address consolare.newdelhi@esteri.it<\/a> for the appropriate verifications.<\/p>\n

The death certificate must be delivered to the Embassy, in original copy, accompanied by the following certificates:<\/p>\n

For documents issued in New Delhi<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Attestation of the Sub Divisional Magistrate
\n\u2022 Apostille issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of India
\n\u2022 Italian translation by Reference Translator (Translators list <\/a>).<\/p>\n

For documents issued in other States belonging to the circumscription of the Embassy<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Attestation of the Sub Divisional Magistrate
\n\u2022 Attestation of the Home Secretary\/NRI Office of the State Government
\n\u2022 Apostille issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of India
\n\u2022 Italian translation by Reference Translator (Translators list<\/a>).<\/p>\n
