The IX edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in India, focused on Mediterranean Diet and Culinary Roots, provided a calendar full with activities and events.
Chef Simone Salvini walked us through a vegetarian gastronomic itinerary touching the cities visited by the Bengali poet. The guests of the Michelin Starred Chef Mattia Bianchi had the chance to listen to Vivaldi’s symphonies, and picking their favourite they could taste a special dessert remembering it. The members of the Italian Cultural Centre in New Delhi will enjoy screening of movies and cooking classes by Chef Rita Monastero, as well as the exhibition “Invisible Flavours” with a display of wooden tools used in Italian regional cuisines from “Museo delle Civiltà” in Rome. Friendliness and talent characterized the presence of Chef Francesco Calvani too.
In Kolkata, the iconic restaurant “Firpo’s” founded 50 years ago by the Italian entrepreneur Angelo Firpo, became the stage for sommelier Giulia Biscontin. Mumbai will host “Festa italiana”, organized by the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industries on the occasion of the arrival of the worldwide famous Vessel Amerigo Vespucci. The Italian Trade Agency promoted food stores corners dedicated to Italian food with demos and tastings. The Chefs will share their tricks and recipes with Indian culinary students. Furthermore, on the occasion of the Space Day, the Embassy will present the food consumed by astronauts during their space missions. “Conviviality and diversity are values shared by Italy and India both.
