International Research Day 2021

The Embassy of Italy in New Delhi celebrates the International Research Day by bringing together experts from Italy and India in a webinar dedicated to “Water Resources and Civilizations”. Prominent guests from the scientific communities of the two countries will attend. After the opening remarks by the Ambassador of Italy to India, @Vincenzo De Luca, Massimiliano Moscatelli and Dr. Ilaria Mazzini of the Institute of Environmental Geology and Geoengineering (CNR) will speak, together with Prof. Tandon of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research of Bhopal, Dr. Ruchi Badola of the Wildlife Institute of India of Dheradun, Prof. Marco Peresani of the University of Ferrara. The speakers will focus on the relationships between water resources and the development of human civilizations. In particular, the talks will focus on the relationship between the Tiber River and the city of Rome, the interaction between Roman ports and more generally the importance of rivers in human settlements. On the Indian side, experts will touch upon the history of the Saraswati River, the problem of the conservation of the biodiversity of the Ganges and its extraordinary attractiveness.

“Never before have we witnessed how research knows no boundaries and is global by definition. From Delhi we want to celebrate it, in the year in which Italy holds the Presidency of the G20 and the co-presidency of COP26, to water resources and how they have influenced the development of civilizations”, stated Ambassador of Italy to India Vincenzo de Luca.

To complete the celebrations, the digital catalog of the photographic exhibition “Sacred Rivers, Streams of Knowledge” by Giancarlo Cammerini will be presented.
